farewell 2007

i’m not really sure where 2007 went, it may have got lost in one of the boxes when we moved house, or been caught up in the chaos of both of us changing jobs within a few weeks of each other, drowned in the champagne and cakes when we got engaged, or chewed to pieces by the kittens which now rule the house…

…it was an incredibly busy and an incredibly happy year, and 2008 is shaping up to be even better

christmas time

Christmas Vent

Yay! cinnamon, gingerbread, christmas tree, advent calendar, turkey, sausage in bacon, presents, cheesy music, carols, ribbons, velvet, vanilla, boardgames, giant tins of chocolates, reverting to childhood, stockings, lots of post, christmas movies, starbucks red cups, snow, mittens, hats, candles…

sorry, just had to get it out of my system quickly so i can get a tiny bit of work done today instead of planning where to put all the christmas decorations so that they don’t become chewed by small adorable kittens

Doodles

It’s worrying how much I want it to be January 1st 2008 so that I can start doodling and following all the instructions in my new desk diary …

Autumn Days

This song has been in my head since September when I finally stopped singing ‘Going to the Chapel’ silently in my head and not so silently in the shower. I’ve decided to share so everyone can have flashbacks to primary school assemblies, the transition from summer dresses to winter uniform and the infamous banning of the Dinosaur song and kiss-chase in the playground…

Autumn Days when the grass is jewelled
And the silk inside a Chestnut shell
Jet Planes meeting in the air to be refuelled
All these things I love so well

So I mustn’t forget
No I musn’t forget
To say a great big thank you
No I mustn’t forget

Clouds that look like familiar faces
And a winter’s moon with frosted rings
Smell of Bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the song the milkman sings

Whipped-up spray that is rainbow scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes so comfy though they’re worn out and battered
And the taste of apple pie

Scent of gardens when the rains been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked-up engine that’s been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team

Small Pleasantness

After reading the lovely Jane’s list of small pleasantness it reminded me of my own list of favourite things, every week a different favourite tops the list

Both Saturday and Sunday evenings found S and I curled up on the giant new chocolate sofa, two kittens sprawled across our laps as we ate our cinnamony apple crumble (one avidly watching the rugby with us, the other trying very hard to steal our crumble & custard) as the smell of a freshly painted room spread through the house

Mew

I was very excited to be able to cross off another of my ambitions in life this weekend. The new kittens have of course already taken over the entire house despite being 8 weeks old and absolutely tiny. They have only two modes: naughty/manic and sleepy/purry

wish i could bring them to work with me, but they might antagonise some of the other furry residents at work…plus there are too many tempting computer cables to chew in an office environment and kitten #1 isn’t called ‘chewy’ for nothing…

marbles

was it just me that always thought the elgin marbles were posh marbles, maybe the cool ones with the ribbony stripe through them? it still makes me grin remembering how that used to confuse me when i read about them or see them today

oh, such blonde moments of genius

letting go

the wedding diet is clearly going very well after a pimms fueled weekend that has become rather hazy in my memory. However, i do remember L bringing along an amazing cheesecake to the engagement party, and being found by S on sunday afternoon, sitting on the floor in front of the fridge eating it out of the tin with a spoon…
